7. Story of Ghodi of Kanak Bhawan (Kanak Bhawan ki ghodi ki kahani)
A mare named Shyama is always harnessed to the festival held every year at Kanak Bhawan in Ayodhya. It is believed that the soul of some virtuous person has joined her. If this mare sees any saint or Mahatma coming for a festival, she bows her head with respect. If any festival is about to come then she starts neighing. And her eyes and gait exude a strange, lovely smile. Seeing her faith, the Saints and Mahatmas who come there say that just as Jadbharat came in the body of a deer, similarly this mare must have been a devotee soul in her previous birth. There must have been a lack in devotion for some reason. And for this reason, the body changed but the virtues of devotion did not change. It is said that when Shyama Ghodi grew old, the organizers decided to send her to Tikamgarh city and a bogie in the train to go to Tikamgarh was also booked. Don’t know how the mare came to know about this, she left the grain and water from her eyes. It seemed as if she wanted to remain engrossed in the service of Kanak Bhawan and did not want to leave Ayodhya. But who would listen and understand the words of that creature? When the time came to send that mare, somehow the mare was loaded with grass and fodder in the train bogie. But God had something else in mind. Coincidentally, the railway staff forgot to put the box in the train to go to Tikamgarh. When the station master, after reprimanding the employees, got the railway bogie opened, the mare was found dead in it. The station master told all this correctly to the organizers of Kanak Bhawan. And the railway staff refused to take that mare and handed it over to the management of Kanak Bhawan. An employee serving the mare came to Kanak Bhavan. He definitely felt something was wrong. He said softly in the mare’s ear, “You are not going to Tikamgarh. You are in Kanak Bhawan of Ayodhya and will stay here now. Now no one will take you anywhere. Get up and sit down.” Look at God’s play, as if the mare wanted to hear this, she immediately stood up and started walking. If we don’t call this reverence, love, affection, devotion for that creature, then what will we call it? Or it could also be that some divine power has entered his body. Hundreds of salutes to such a creature.
